How do you do SEO

Submitted your site

If you have been on the internet long enough you will have seen the adds promising to promote your site to thousands of search engines. The problem is there aren't thousands of actual search engines out there! Some sites claim to submit your site to 50,000 or 100,000 engines etc, but what they really mean is that they will submit your site to a few engines and the rest to Free For All link sites also known as FFA. These sites have little value and will generate no meaningful traffic, but will take your email address and do as they please with it.

Some of these are in the form of emails that are quit clever, and use sophisticated automated scripting to generate a seemingly personalized email and usually start off like this.

Dear website name

I recently visited your site and noticed your not listed in some of the engines...blah blah blah. All you need to do is hand us your money and we will submit your site to 100,000 engines regularly for six months.

Even we receive such emails!

Concentrate

Concentrate your efforts on the big players as that will be where the actual traffic comes from.

It is very important to remember search engine marketing really means generating qualified sales leads to your website. Once they visit you, your website has to convert them into paying clients!

There are no magic bullets when it comes to search engine marketing, just acquired knowledge that comes from reading combined with some genuine elbow grease. Search engine marketing is a process that builds on itself over time and takes diligence. If you are prepared to do the work then you can get the results you want.
